INTANGIBLE OBJECTS

Intangible Objects is self-described Scouse illustrator Lydia Hignett. Growing up in an art-loving household, with a creative mum and a music-loving dad, significantly shaped Lydia into the artist, maker and painter she is today. Her own passion for pop culture, art and music shines throughout her work, whether it’s in illustrating homages to her favourite musicians, creating the funkiest little characters, or the surreal and psychedelic cityscapes her figures parade around, you can see brightness, playfulness and charm radiating from all corners of her visual universe.

Soaked in references to Hip Hop culture, Lydia’s work taps into a collective urban nostalgia, an aesthetic expressed in her perspective-bending, isometric compositions, her joyfully wonky characters, and in the exaggerated proportions of her subjects and the immersive quality this evokes. Above all, Lydia’s work is full of soulful character and the unapologetic visual attitude of street art.
